Kalamos is a village in northeast of Attica, south of Oropos and north of Kapandriti. According to the 2011 census, its population is 1.824 inhabitants. Its seaport is the Agios Apostolos, which is a holiday area with high visitation during the summer months. It administratively belongs to the Municipality of Oropos.
Kalamos is built in a wooded area of the northeast Attica, 39 kilometers far from the Athens city center. It is surrounded by important monuments and sights such as the Monastery of Metamorfosi Sotiros and the Byzantine temples of Agios Nikolaos and Agia Paraskevi, the holy oracle of Amphiaraio.
After the liberation of the Greek state, Kalamos was temporarily renamed Perea and was the seat of the newly established Municipality of Perea. Since January 2010, Kalamos joined the new municipality of Oropos.
