Vari is a settlement of Attica, part of the Athens urban complex, located 26 kilometers south of the center of Athens.
It is built between the southern mountainous endings of Ymittos, very close to the coasts of the Saronic Gulf. Between the coasts and the settlement is the settlement of Varkiza. Administratively the settlement belongs to the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni.
In antiquity the area of Vari was called Municipality of Anigyrontos of ancient Athens.
Vari was a settlement of the municipality of Kropia until 1912. In 1929 was the seat of a separate community, which included the settlements of Vouliagmeni and Voula. Voula was separated from the Vari community in 1934 and constituted a separate community, while Vouliagmeni was separated in 1935.
The Municipality of Vari had an area of 22.189 sq. Km. and had a population of 10.998 inhabitants according to the 2001 census. It bordered with the municipalities of Voula, Vouliagmeni and Kropia and in 1 January 2011 Vari joined Voula and Vouliagmeni, according to Kallikratis regulations, in a joined municipality.
