Zefyri is an area of Athens, in the northwestern part of the Attica Region. Since January 1, 2011 it has been incorporated into the Municipality of Fyli.
Transportation is served by bus line 735 (Acharnais-Zefyri-Kato Patision Station). Exit 6 of the Attica Road following the “Zefyri” tunnel to Elefsina also serves those who use an automobile, at this exit there is also a suburban train stop.
As far as the name of the city is concerned, there are two different stories. One story says that the Zefyri was named after a well called Zofria, that was used to water animals. The second story says that it was named after Zephyros wind, which was intense in the area. Until 1967, Zefyri belonged to the municipality of Acharnes, then it was separated from Menidi and became a community.
