Dionyssos situated on the northeastern slopes of the forested Penteliko Mountains, is an area and main settlement of the Dionyssos Municipal Unit in the homonymous community of the Eastern Attica regional unit, which consists of the first areas of Anixia, Drosia, Kryoneri, Rodopoli, Stamas and Agios Stefanos. The settlement has a population of 5,651 inhabitants, according to the Census of 2011, and is occupying an area of 21,41 sq. Km. It is part of the Athens town complex and borders Drosia, Rhodopolis, Nea Makri, Penteli and Ekali.

What is special about Dionyssos is that the temperature is dramatically lower than in Athens city center and the snowfalls are frequent during the winter season.
