The Glyka Nera (formerly Lykanoura) in ancient times were a part of the ancient Athenian municipality of Pallini of the Antiochian tribe, which was laying on the northeast slopes of Ymittos. Today they constitute a modern and developing northern suburb of Athens.

In recent years Glyka Nera constitute a pine-covered farm in Peania. They unsuccessfully attempted to secede from Peania in 1966 for the first time, while in 1969 they managed to be recognized by a new court decision as an autonomous \”Glyka Nera Community\”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The modern city is a suburb of Athens and extends 13 kilometers northeast of downtown Athens and 4 kilometers southwest of Pallini.
