Ilioupoli is an area of the Central Sector of Athens and is located on the southwestern outskirts of Ymittos at an altitude of 210 meters. It is a municipality of the Attica Region.

It covers an area of about 12.700 acres, of which 5.700 are covered by forest trees and 7.000 are covered by the settlement (roads, residences etc.). The average altitude of the area is 150m. According to the 2011 census it has a population of 78.153 inhabitants and is the 28th most populated municipality in the whole country.

Until recently the Elliniko Airport was located in a short distance of the area of Ilioupoli, thus the construction of more than two floors was prevented. Since the airport was moved to Spata, this restriction was abolished and so, intense building activity was observed. Moreover, the area is full of green and has a nice street layout at its central and eastern part.
