Nea Makri is a town in northeast Attica. It belongs to the Marathon Municipality. Its population, according to the 2011 Census, is 15.554 inhabitants. Nea Makri borders the Marathon on the north, Rafina on the south, Pentelikos on the west, and Dionysus on the east, while it is about 10 km east of the South Euboean coast. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Marathon.

The city center is 32 km far from Athens via Mesogeion Avenue and Marathon Avenue. It is 12 km far from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport via Marathonos Avenue and Attiki Odos.

Nea Makri is a central city of East Attica that combines urban and holiday features all together. It is an important transport hub with Marathon Avenue connecting Nea Makri with downtown Athens and Dionysos Street connecting Nea Makri with the northern suburbs of Athens.
