Nea Penteli is a municipal community of the Municipality of Penteli which is made up of Penteli and the municipality’s seat, Melissia.

The area began to be inhabited at the same period as the neighboring town of Penteli. The first inhabitants of Nea Penteli were quarries, who came from the Aegean islands (Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Karpathos, etc.) to work in marble quarries during the decade of 1950s and 1960s.

The stadium was built at the location where the small lake of Thalassi or Vourlida existed during the decade of the 1970s and 1980s.

What is important in the area is the natural state of the Chalandri ravine. It passes through the middle of the settlement of Nea Penteli starting from the Penteli border.
