Melissia is a municipal community and seat of the Municipality of Penteli, which also consists Penteli and Nea Penteli. The city is situated at the southwest part of the Penteli mountain and 12 km northeast of Athens city centre. It is built at a high altitude and is reminiscent of a mountain town.
