Elliniko (meaning Greek) is a city of the Municipality of Argyroupoli-Elliniko of the Southern Athens Section of the Attica Region. Its total area is 7.5 square km of which 5.5 belonged to the old Ellinikon International Airport.

It is divides in four areas, Sourmena, Ano Elliniko, Kato Elliniko (Agios Kosmas) and the district of Agia Paraskevi.Elliniko borders with Alimos, Argyroupoli and Glyfada. It has 14 plazas and 15 playgrounds. The city can be accessed by express roads Vouliagmeni and Poseidonos Avenues, a new line of the Athens metro (Elliniko station) as well as the tram serves the coastal part of Elliniko.

After the closure of Elliniko airport in 2001, the new Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is now Athens\’ central airport.

Lately it is said that the Elliniko former airport site and the expanded area around, will be totally renovated with a

7-billion-euro project, to expand the local economy growth as well as the visual appearance of the whole town.
