Peristeri is a city and constitutes the main and most populous municipality of the Western Sector in the Athenian Field of Attica and one of the most populous in the Greek territory. Peristeri borders with the Municipalities of Ilion (north), Athens (east), Aigaleo (south), Chaidari (west) and Petroupoli (northwest).

The town of 10.050 square kilometers extends 4.5 kilometers northwest of the center of the capital, to the foot of the mountain of Poikilos, which is an extension of Mount Aigaleo.

Its modern history goes back to 1922, after the Asia Minor Disaster and the settlement of the refugees of Asia Minor. Today it is one of the largest populatied municipalities of Athens with dense construction, a population of 139.981 permanent residents and a population density of 13.928 inhabitants / km² according to the 2011 Census.

Since August 9, 2004, the Agios Antonios Metro Station, located in the center of Peristeri, started operating. On April 6, 2013, two more Metro stations started operating, the New Town Hall (Peristeri Station) and the Anthoupoli Station which is located next to Thivon Avenue.
